FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is your cancellation policy?

Mamas in Motion requires 24 hour notice of any cancellations to avoid our $50 cancellation fee. You can cancel your appointment online. If you have additional questions about this, please ask us!

Is an evaluation required prior to beginning services?

Yes, an initial evaluation is required to begin an episode of care. An evaluation allows us to discover which areas we need to address during our time together. Feel free to book a complimentary discovery call prior to you evaluation to learn more about what to expect. If it has been longer than 6 months since your last visit, we may require another evaluation to assess changes and develop a new plan of care.

Where are services provided?

Mamas in Motion is a mobile, fee-for-service physical therapy practice, which means we come to you and provide physical therapy in the comfort of your own home. This eliminates the stress of driving to appointments or finding childcare during appointments. We are also happy to provide telehealth services following the initial, in-person evaluation.

Do you only provide services to mothers?

No! We are happy to provide orthopedic and pelvic floor physical therapy services for all women 18 years of age and older!

Do I need a referral?

No, Kentucky is a direct access state, so we do not require a referral to book. Just head on over to the scheduling tab to get started!

The state of Indiana does require a referral if treatment continues longer than 42 days past the initiation of treatment without a referral.

Who will I work with?

You will work with either Dr. Christy Carosello or Dr. Rachelle Sweeney. Both Rachelle and Christy are licensed physical therapists, and provide 1:1 care. While we recommend staying with the same provider for the duration of your care, we are happy to accommodate switching therapists if you have a varying schedule. At Mamas in Motion, you will never be booked concurrently with another patient or have to work with an assistant.

Can my children be present during the appointment?

We love babies and children of all ages! They are welcome to be present during our time together.

Do you only treat pelvic health/pregnancy concerns?

No! We treat the entire body and are happy to address any of your orthopedic concerns. We value a holistic approach and recognize the importance of treating the entire person.

What treatments do you offer?

Mamas in Motion offers creation of individualized home exercise programs, manual therapy, dry needling, massage, cupping, and soft tissue mobilization.

What is dry needling?

Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used to treat muscular pain and dysfunction. It involves the insertion of thin needles (similar to acupuncture needles) into trigger points or knots in muscles. The goal is to release tension, reduce pain, and improve range of motion and muscle recruitment.

How does dry needling differ from acupuncture?

While both techniques utilize thin filament needles, they each have distinct differences. Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is rooted in Western medicine and focuses on targeting specific muscular issues. The purpose of dry needling is to alleviate muscular pain and dysfunction, while the primary goal of acupuncture is to restore the flow of energy and balance in the body.
